The Covenants

A Journey from Eden to the Perfect Promise of Christ

What is a Covenant?

A sacred promise, a treaty, an agreement, or a testament. Throughout the Bible, God established major covenants to guide, protect, and ultimately redeem humanity.

The Major Covenants

Edenic Covenant Genesis 1-2
Made with Adam in the Garden of Eden. This covenant focused on mankind’s responsibility, dominion over creation, and the specific command not to eat from the tree of knowledge.
Adamic Covenant Genesis 3
God’s promise of mercy following the fall. It contains the very first prophecy of a redeemer (the “seed of the woman”) established alongside the introduction of earthly toil and physical death.
Noahic Covenant Genesis 9
An unconditional promise to Noah, his family, and all creation that God would never again destroy the earth by a global flood—sealed forever with the sign of the rainbow.
Abrahamic Covenant Genesis 12, 15, 17
God’s unconditional promise to make Abraham’s descendants a great nation, give them the Promised Land, and bless all families of the earth through his specific lineage.
Mosaic Covenant Exodus 19–24
A conditional agreement at Mount Sinai providing the Ten Commandments and the Law. Blessings and peace were directly tied to the nation’s obedience to God.
Priestly Covenant Num 25:12-13, Mal 2:4-8
A divine guarantee of an everlasting priesthood and an enduring covenant of peace.
Palestinian Covenant Deuteronomy 29–30
Outlines Israel’s conditional and unconditional rights to dwell safely in the Promised Land of Canaan.

Historical Context: Over its thousands of years of history, Jerusalem has been captured and recaptured 44 times, besieged 23 times, attacked 52 times, and completely destroyed twice.
Davidic Covenant 2 Samuel 7
God’s unconditional promise to King David that his royal dynasty and throne would endure forever—a promise perfectly fulfilled through the lineage of Jesus Christ.

The Perfect Covenant

Jesus is the Executor. The New Covenant stands apart: it is eternal, attained by grace rather than works, and all-inclusive for both Jew and Gentile (John 3:16). He paid the ransom, securing the following vital promises:

Total Redemption & Restoration

Freedom from sin and all the agendas of the devil.

For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed… but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

1 Peter 1:18-19

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.

Ephesians 1:7-8

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 1:13-14

Covenant of Peace

Perfect peace with God the Father and mankind. (Colossians 1:19-20)

Abundant Life

A life filled with divine purpose and overflow. (John 6:53-54, John 10:10)

Covenant of Joy

A deep, sustaining joy regardless of circumstance. (Hebrews 12:2)

His Riches and Wealth

Access to the limitless spiritual riches of Heaven. (Revelation 5:12)

Healing and Perfect Health

Wholeness for the body, mind, and spirit. (Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 2:24)

Eternal Life

The ultimate promise of forever with Him. (Hebrews 9:15)
